If you’ve ever shopped for an ultra-light tent for two people, you likely know how small and expensive they can be. The Big Agnes Ripple Creek UL2 tent is the perfect happy medium, offering plenty of space at a decent price point and hitting an impressively low weight of 3 pounds, 10 ounces.

The tent has a couple of downsides: It’s not standalone, meaning you have to stake it down in order to have it stand upright. In rocky places with poor topsoil, this can be tough. The tent is also asymmetrical, with only one door, so the person sleeping on the inside has to crawl over the other person to exit or enter the tent.

Still, the tent is incredibly spacious, allowing you to store a good deal of your gear inside. The rest can easily fit in an external vestibule at the tent’s door. The three-season tent is easy to set up, provides sufficient headroom, and can be constructed as an ultra-light shelter using just the rainfly and the ground cloth. You also have the option of adding string lights (Big Agnes’s mtnGLO line). Ultimately, this is one of the best ultra-light, two-person tents on the market for price, weight and roominess.
