The Bonneville Hot Springs Resort & Spa is a peaceful retreat in the misty forests surrounding the Columbia Gorge separating western Washington and Oregon. The hotel’s grounds are lush and quiet, making for a relaxing landing spot after a busy day exploring the gorge’s wineries and waterfall hikes.
The resort is located on the Washington side of the gorge, which removes it a bit from the traffic of the Oregon side. Though lacking the view afforded at other hotels, Bonneville makes up for it with its spring-fed mineral waters, which are channeled into indoor and outdoor pools. There is a large indoor swimming pool as well as indoor and outdoor hot tubs and a sauna. The spa offers a full range of treatments, too, like massages and wraps.
The rooms here are tastefully decorated and comfortable, though nothing particularly striking. Some look out over greenery while others peer into the courtyard, perfect for scoping out the outdoor hot tub availability.
The restaurant’s Pacific Crest Dining Room is one of the best in the area, with local Northwest fare and an extensive wine list. In summer, the Courtyard Bar offers lunch and dinner al fresco. Room service is also available.
