Craft beer is a big deal in and around Glacier Country, in northwestern Montana. Maybe it’s just a natural pairing of the region’s incredible array of outdoor activities; who doesn’t crave a beer after a day of skiing, mountain biking, kayaking or hiking? Very few Montanans, it would seem.
The beers here are unpretentious, and often they pay homage to some aspect of life in Montana, whether it’s the scenery, the sports or the wildlife. And many breweries make use of local hops, wild berries and other locally sourced ingredients.
It seems every town in the area — even the very small ones — has a brewery worth patronizing. And many offer a view into the brewing area and a solid menu of good food to pair with your beer.
