Modern tent designs often tend to focus on the state of the art — new micro-fibered materials that defend against extreme temperatures or numerous compartments for each of the occupants’ privacy. With all of this overwhelming technology, they perhaps overlook the real intention of spending time outdoors — simplicity. For many outdoorsmen and backpackers, camping is an escape from luxury and technology. Outdoor gear manufacturer Eureka! embodies this notion through their Solitaire Tent. This tent for one is both economical and easy to use, for campers of all skill levels.

The Solitaire Tent ($89.90) is a three-season, bivy-style shelter, supported with two lightweight fiberglass hoops. The walls of the cylindrical tent are made from a nylon taffeta material, with mess windows included at numerous locations. The design features a dual entrance system with one standard opening at its front-facing door and another at the top of the structure. The Solitaire Tent includes two interior storage pockets, as well as one flashlight loop for easy access in the dark. Additionally, the design has a rear-facing chamber designed for gear storage. And, at a mere 2 pounds, 9 ounces and 4 inch-by-7 ½ inch pack size, this tent is lightweight and easy to carry when mobile.
