Halloween is a beloved holiday for both children and adults alike. Between trick or treating, costume parties and parades, the holiday offers something for everyone. Halloween also draws large numbers of crowds for its festivities. Follow our tips for avoiding crowds at Halloween celebrations.
- Throw a party at your home. The easiest way to limit crowds at Halloween is to host your own party. Invite as many, or as few, as you like. Keep it simple hosting a mini movie marathon with a couple close friends. Or plan an all-day event so your friends can stop in and out throughout the day, without everyone at your home all at once.
- Celebrate early or late. Plan your celebrations either several weekends before or after Halloween to avoid crowds.
- When Halloween falls on a weekend, opt to skip any large events at bars or other venues.
- Plan a vacation. Though Halloween is celebrated around the world, the largest celebrations occur in the United States. Take this opportunity to go abroad.
- Bring your kids to a trunk-or-treat. The trend of hosting trick-or-treaters in a public space, like a school or church parking lot, is a popular alternative for the standard door-to-door practice. Kids go from car to car to get candy, making the process more streamlined for parents.
- Avoid parade routes. Check the street closures for your local Halloween parade to steer clear of crowds.
