Livingua helps you to go beyond internet recommendations for your travel and discover what locals like. Traveling users who sign up are instantly connected with locals (also known as “Livinguers”) who can answer any questions in real time, from where to stay and where to go to what to do.

The app’s first location is Puerto Rico, with plans to expand the service. Livinguers undergo a thorough interview process before being accepted into the program to be sure travelers only receive the best recommendations.

The app is easy to use. All you have to do is download the app for iOS and choose your destination. Then you ask a question in up to 300 words and choose how you would like to be answered. You can choose either email for $1.99 per question answered or phone for $0.49 per minute. A local will contact you within seconds to help find the answer to your question. There are specified guides for almost every type of question, including tourist sites, nightlife, transportation, restaurants, outdoor activities, art, museums and universities. Every Livinguer is bilingual, to make the process even easier. You can find guides who speak Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Russian, Tatar and more. Many of the individuals chosen have prior experience in travel.

If you’re not sure you’ll ever need to use the Livingua app, but you think you’d make an excellent Livinguer, you can easily sign up on the website to schedule an interview. The site claims you can make up to $20 per hour using the service.

Other features of the app include instant translation, geolocation and local pricing.
