Croatia joined an illustrious list of countries around the world recently: those sporting Michelin-starred restaurants.
The coveted award recognizes restaurants that offer superior experiences, from the food to the service. The Michelin guide inspectors awarded the star to the restaurant Monte in the Istrian coastal city of Rovinj.
The reviewers noted the restaurant’s “cool, contemporary style” contrasting with the picturesque old town. They also noted the food was “creative and occasionally theatrical … using modern techniques to create beautifully presented, flavor-filled dishes,” and the “particularly interesting” wine list.
Michelin’s reviewers go undercover when trying restaurants. They look for high-quality ingredients, skill in preparation and flavor combination, chef creativity, value for money and consistently high standards.
There are only 2,717 restaurants in the world with at least one Michelin star. The accolade can significantly boost a restaurant’s profile, instantly making it a destination worthy of international attention.

United Continues Its Global Expansion
United Airlines keeps soaring to new heights, recently announcing another expansion of its leading global route network. The airline added new non-stop flights between Newark (EWR) and Marrakesh (RAK), Morocco; Tokyo (NRT) and Cebu (CEB), Philippines; and Houston (IAH) and Medellin (MDE), Colombia.
