Did you know Texas is the fifth-largest wine-producing state in the United States? With more than 400 wine producers and 1,474 acres of vineyards and wine trails throughout the state, consider a visit to the Texas Wine Trail for your next vacation.
The Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail is located in the countryside, northwest of Houston. The off-the-beaten-path destination offers award-winning wines and stunning views at wineries including Messina Hof, Perrine Winery and Texas Star Winery. Visit during February to take part in the wine trail’s passport event, with discounts at wineries throughout the region.
The Fredericksburg Wine Road 290 spans 30 miles of Texas Hill Country from Fredericksburg to Johnson City. The region is home to some of the most popular wineries in the state, including Becker Vineyards, Fredericksburg Winery, Hilmy Cellars and Narrow Path Winery & Vineyard. Invention Vineyards was recently added to the trail.
Located in aptly named Grapevine, Texas, Grapevine Wine Trail is an urban wine trail home to a variety of wineries. Visit Grape Vine Springs Winery, open for 20 years. Landon Winery’s inventive winemaking process utilizes stainless-steel tanks and American and French oak barrels.
Texas High Plains Wine and Vine Trail
More than 80 percent of Texas’ wine grapes are grown in the Texas High Plains AVA (American Viticultural Area). Llano Estacado Winery is the second-oldest in Texas and produces 1.7 million bottles annually. Sample award-winning wine or a food-and-wine pairing at Triple D Winery.
