If you’re going to run in a race, it might as well be in a beautiful, fun, travel-worthy destination. Some races are worth running for, especially if you get a mini vacation out of it.

Day of the Dead Series

Oct. 31–Nov. 3, this epic race is a choose-your-own adventure of running fun through Las Cruces, New Mexico. Check out local Day of the Dead events while you’re in the neighborhood, and keep the creepy fun going all weekend.

Catalina Island Triathlon & Duathlon

Jump into high gear and get to Avon, Catalina Island, off the coast of California for the Nov. 2 race, or plan ahead for next year — either way, this is one venue worth trekking to. See the stunning island by swimming, biking and running its iconic landscape and earn a long weekend of relaxation and leisurely boat rides.

Golden Gate Half Marathon

Whether you opt for the 13.1-mile race or the classic 5k, you’re still getting picturesque views of San Francisco by way of the Golden Gate Bridge. Taking place Nov. 3, runners cross the iconic bridge into the City by the Bay and end with unbeatable vistas throughout and perks at the finish.

What to Do During a Trip to Morro Bay, California

No, it’s not Monterey Bay. We’re talking Morro Bay, California, located about a 2.5-hour drive to the south, about halfway between San Jose and Los Angeles. A quieter destination, Morro Bay offers plenty for the outdoor adventurer to enjoy.
