We all know the best way to discover a new city is through its food, which is why it’s imperative you partake in a tour next time you’re in Helsinki. The Fork in Hand tour, operated by Heather’s Helsinki, is a walk through town that hits all of the best eateries in the city center.
Along the way, you’ll make stops at the smallest local deli in town as well as the largest food hall with a variety of dishes to choose from, vegan to raw. Don’t worry, there will be a few sweets in there, too.
As you go, your guide will enthrall with tales of Helsinki and Finnish history and lore while you sample tons of delicious eats. For the beer connoisseur in the group there will be plenty of tastings. Heather’s Helsinki also provides a special gift for each participant and at the end you’ll be free to sit down at a local coffee joint and have a chat with all the other guests.
It’s a great opportunity to explore the city’s wonderful architecture up close, while also getting a lay of the land before going to explore on your own. The tour operates throughout the year, so dress appropriately, as it lasts roughly five hours with much of it spent outdoors.
