California is a state of many landscapes, a varyied but moderate climate and majestic views. With so many National Parks, deserts and beaches to admire, there is enough hiking variety to keep even the most experienced traveler from getting bored.
With more than 1,000 square miles of gorgeous peaks and valleys, Yosemite National Park is a tourist destination for a reason. This National Park has incredible waterfalls, giant, ancient sequoias and a famous tunnel view. Easy walking trails and more challenging climbs lead hikers to the granite cliffs of El Capitan and Half Dome or the iconic vision of Bridalveil Falls.
The epic beauty of Yosemite has something for hikers of all levels of experience and with the Yosemite village nearby, hikers can relax after their trip in the shops, restaurants and Ansel Adams Gallery.
For a beach hike with a view, try Santa Catalina Island. This channel island lies just southwest of Los Angeles and offers amazing views, beaches, diving and wildlife. With breathtaking views overlooking the welcoming beach below, this small island is perfect for an active weekend getaway.
From the giant, ancient trees of Sequoia and Redwood National Park to the desert and rock formations of Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Park, California is a sprawling paradise for hikers and sight-seekers. Some hikes are more challenging and time consuming to achieve, but the view makes many of them all the more worth it.
