Hillwalk Tours Ireland provides a perfect opportunity to spend four to 10 days of self-guided hiking in the Wicklow Mountains, stress-free.
Choose from 11 different itineraries that range from gentle to challenging, and enjoy 24-7 support, detailed maps, way-marking, historical and cultural notes of interest and pre-booked accommodation at local, family-run guest houses.
Along the trail are two major points of interest, Glendalough and Enniskerry.
Glendalough is home to a beautiful national park and one of the most important monastic sites in Ireland. The Wicklow Mountains National Park covers close to 50,000 acres of mountains, valleys and lakes. Adjacent to the park is the “Monastic City” founded by St. Kevin in the sixth century. Both the park and the historic site are open to visitors free of charge.
Enniskerry is the location of the Powerscourt Estate, which boasts two championship golf courses in addition to a stately home and sprawling landscaped gardens. Located in Powerscourt House are outlets of Avoca, Global Village and Design Loft. Since the tour price includes luggage transfers across hikers’ accommodations throughout the trip, Powerscourt is a great opportunity to purchase authentic Irish goods without the hassle of transporting them.
All tour start and end points are easily accessible via public and private transportation from Dublin’s city center.
Additional nights in any stop along the trail may be booked at extra cost.
Tours run March through October.
