Located in Quebec’s Laurentians region, Intermiel is a family-run farm specializing in honey and maple products. The large-scale farm manages the production of 8,000 beehives, a 14,000-tap sugar bush and an orchard with 600 apple trees. Their honey is recognized as a 100 percent Quebec product.
All honey products are natural and unpasteurized. Liquid honey comes in a variety of flavors including raspberry blossom, clover and buckwheat. For a different honey experience, sample Intermiel’s creamy honey with a dense, butter-like texture. Other bee products include bee pollen, beeswax ointment and pure beeswax. While Intermiel specializes in honey and bee products, the company also produces gourmet food, mead, maple items and beauty products. Celebrating all things maple, sample maple syrup, maple taffy, maple butter and maple salad dressing.
To learn more about the production of Intermiel’s products, take a tour of their facilities. The program includes a presentation of the company, beehive opening demonstration, tasting of honey and other products, visit of the meadery and distillery including mead and alcohol tasting and a visit to their maple syrup production facility upon request. The 90-minute guided tour costs $10 for adults.
The shop is open year-round, with daily hours from 9 a.m.–6 p.m.
