Experience two unforgettable attractions in Grand Rapids, Michigan, this holiday season: the second annual Christkindl Markt and the new ENLIGHTEN display at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park.

The Christkindl Markt channels the holiday spirit of a classic European Christmas village, with more than 60 artisan and food vendors, visits from Santa, and activities like learning how to curl. You can also dine in a private “alpenglobe,” and sample classic favorites such as mulled wine and raclette. The market is open through Dec. 23.
At Frederick Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, ENLIGHTEN is a new attraction for Grand Rapids, featuring dynamic light displays and installations, including interactive elements. The attraction is open select dates through Jan. 4. During the same timeframe, the park also features a Christmas & Holiday Traditions display, which features more than 40 cultural exhibits and 350,000 lights.

Want to take in some lights but also kick back and relax? Try the BYOB Holiday Lights Trolley, which operates weekends through Dec. 22 and takes you on a three-hour tour of some of the area’s best lights and holiday décor. If you’d rather do the driving yourself, sans the B.Y.O.B. element, try the Christmas Lite Show at LMCU Ballpark, where a 2-mile, self-driven route takes you through more than a million lights.

Yesterday, TSA began enforcing new identification guidelines, a change that’s been a long-time coming. Now, travelers must show a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued ID in order to fly on domestic flights, in lieu of a non-compliant driver’s license (some other forms of identification, such as passports, will still be acceptable).
