Tips / Travel

When the travel bug bites, it can be difficult to prevent yourself from hopping online to find the next flight out of town. If your schedule and budget are not conducive to an impromptu getaway, here are a few ways to feed your travel needs that do not involve spending any money or enduring painful jet lag.

Staycation. If you live in a big city or even a larger town, chances are you have not seen and done everything there is to see and do. Conduct some research and plan a visit to a museum, park or other attraction to expand your knowledge of your home city. If you’re within driving or train distance from a place you have never visited, consider a quick daytrip down the road.

Take a mental trip to the past. Spend some time organizing photos and creating a scrapbook or maybe even blog about your past travel experiences. Reminding yourself of the incredible opportunities and experiences you have had will temporarily transport you to a faraway place, for free.

Plan trips for others. Offering to help others plan their trips can allow you to share and revel in your experiences as well as obtain possible ides for your next vacation.

Plan your next trip. Break out your calendar and globe and start brainstorming for your next adventure!

Known as Florida’s Forgotten Coast, this stretch of the Florida Panhandle is often overlooked for more well-known destinations in the state, such as Panama City Beach, Miami and Tampa.
