Airlines

Starting May 16, 2025, Icelandair will offer travelers flights between Music City and the Land of Fire and Ice. The airline will serve four weekly flights between Nashville (BNA) and Reykjavik (RKV), making Iceland even more accessible to those in the Southeast United States.

The new route marks the airline’s 18th destination in North America and will operate through October 2025.

“We are very pleased to add Nashville to our extensive network in North America, linking Music City to our 34 destinations in Europe,” said Bogi Nils Bogason, president and CEO, Icelandair. “We know travelers from the Southeast will greatly benefit from this new service and offer Tennesseans the best options to Iceland and beyond. Our new service will also provide travelers from Iceland and Europe, connecting through Nashville, more choices throughout the US. In addition, we encourage passengers traveling to Europe, to take an Icelandair Stopover, and explore our home. We look forward to welcoming Nashville aboard.”

In addition to this new flight, Icelandair also announced an upcoming bilateral partnership with Southwest Airlines. The initial North American gateway between these two airlines will be Baltimore (BWI), with other destinations to soon follow.

Are You Ready for the Final Switch to Real ID?

Yesterday, TSA began enforcing new identification guidelines, a change that’s been a long-time coming. Now, travelers must show a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued ID in order to fly on domestic flights, in lieu of a non-compliant driver’s license (some other forms of identification, such as passports, will still be acceptable).
