Love is in the air, and with it the flurry of date planning. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, so now is the time to plan a romantic, fun evening for your special someone. If that someone happens to be filled with wanderlust, here are a few ideas for making their Valentine’s Day one to remember.
Make a spread of international goodies.
Chocolate, wine and cheese are always a great way to go a little upscale, and you can go as international as you’d like. Choose wines and cheese from one specific region or country, or pair the best of a few different countries.
Plan a movie night.
Rather than popping in the same old rom-coms, grab a few foreign-language films. Scope out the best romantic pics from around the world, or opt for classics. Is there anything more romantic than a black-and-white love story?
Get interactive with a map.
Not the type to sit quietly? Unfold a map and plan your ultimate getaway together. Make some pizza, grab some good beer and set about mapping out a huge backpacking trip or talking about all the places you both want to visit. It’s a fun way to learn more about each other’s globetrotting daydreams.
Get out of town.
Okay, so maybe it’s not realistic to jet off to Europe for Valentine’s Day. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get into the travel spirit by spending a night away from home. Sites like Hotel Tonight offer last-minute deals on top hotels and AirBnB has some amazing offerings in cities around the country. Toss together a bag, hit the road and enjoy a new-to-you city!
