Trends / Unique Itineraries & Tours

The city of Krakow has installed 18 new miniature parks, or called pocket parks — . These are tiny slices of nature carved out of the concrete jungle thatto allow visitors to relax and unwind. In the Polish city, each pocket park has unique features and themes. (https://portalkomunalny.pl/w-krakowie-powstanie-18-parkow-kieszonkowych-366919/)

Pocket parks are becoming increasingly popular around the world; cities like Seattle and New York City have set aside space for parkletss, or pocket parks, to encourage outdoor recreation and relaxation.

“Inspired by global trends, we want to show that sometimes a small area is connected with a good idea that takes into account the needs of the local community, so that a place will be created that will completely change the face of the nearest inhabitants of space. Examples of such pocket parks are, for example, New York’s Paley Park, Plaza De Santo Domingo Pocket in Santiago or APW BangSar in Kuala Lumpur,” according to the ZZM – the Kraków Municipal Greenery Authority — website.

This year, Krakow built pocket parks in 18 locations, and each park is influenced by the citizensthose in the neighborhood as well as theand surrounding area. So far, three parks have been established with ad; the goal is to place one in each of the city’s districts. The project was spearheaded by Sstudents at Jagiellonian University, who used crowdfunding to get the project off the ground.

The park garnering the most attention is a butterfly-themed parklet, which comes outfitted with plants that attract the insects, solar lighting that mimics fireflies, and lawn games.
