Restaurant

With U.S. locations in New York City and Chicago, Eataly is a mecca for lovers of all things Italian cuisine. Two of the partners overseeing the operation are well-known Italian chefs Lidia Bastianich and Mario Batali. The New York location is on 5th Avenue, between 23rd and 24th Streets, adjacent to the iconic Flatiron building and Madison Square Park.

A break between meetings in the area afforded an opportunity for my colleague and I to sit down for lunch. After perusing the menus of the different restaurants within the Eataly market, we settled on La Pizza & La Pasta. The wait at 1 p.m. on a weekday was short, and gave us the chance to watch fresh bread being pounded and rolled at the stall next door before going into the oven.

The menu follows the name. I sampled the Agnolotti, served with a veal reduction. The plate was a perfect size for lunch and filled with flavor. Without a time crunch, I would have liked to enjoy a gelato from one of the other vendors inside Eataly, but that will have to wait for my next visit.

Sail on a Recently Revamped Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship

At one point, the Royal Caribbean Oasis-class ships were the largest in the world. While that’s not the case any longer (other Royal Caribbean ships have surpassed them), these ships are still pretty impressive — and, with recent renovations, they’re becoming even more so, as can be seen with the revamped Allure of the Seas. Ready to set sail in April 2025 with a bevy of new features, the ship is getting a $100 million makeover.
