The next time you find yourself facing an hours-long layover at Chicago-O’Hare International Airport, why not put your valued time to good use? Rather than scanning your news feed to see your cousin’s new baby pics, spend your time learning a life-saving skill, CPR.

The American Heart Association and Anthem Foundation jointly introduced interactive kiosks at one of the country’s largest airports to give passengers something to do between flights. The kiosk will prompt users to read information about what to do when a person needs medical attention and how; in addition to alerting medical emergency teams, there are other ways to assist someone when they are experiencing life-threatening symptoms.

Not only will the kiosk provide this vital information with interactive screens and short quizzes, it will also allow users to practice CPR on rubber mannequins. After practice on the mannequin, participants will receive feedback via the electronic monitor.

Although pages of information and practice on a dummy is nothing compared with the real thing, the AHA and Anthem hope this small step will not only give travelers something to do, but will provide them with important information should a dire situation ever arise, whether in travel or in everyday life.
