The flowers are blooming, the birds are singing — it’s finally spring. Follow these tips to make the most of your city’s springtime and dispel the cabin fever.
No matter which coast you live on, it’s likely you’re within driving distance of a national park. Check out the National Park Service’s map to locate the park nearest you. Do some research; most parks offer a variety of recreation spaces, including campgrounds, hiking trails and docent-led tours.
Don’t neglect local parks either. Many urban areas have pocket parks or outdoor public green spaces that host concerts and free events. Discover a new bike path or dog park in the center of your city. Read local newspapers and event listings to find out what’s happening in your neck of the woods.
If strolling through a park doesn’t peak your interest, look for outdoor venues. Tour a public garden or dine al fresco. Take an interest in local gardens and farms, many community colleges offer adult education courses in gardening.
Embrace the season in whichever way suits you best and look forward to the sunny days ahead.
