Tips / Destination

Mombasa is a coastal city in Kenya. It’s the country’s oldest and second-largest city. Every year, hundreds of people choose to visit Mombasa. There are many activities to do including spending time at the beach or going on safari. The city has an international airport, so visitors can fly into the city without a ton of different flights.

Start the morning with a walk through Old Town. Exploring a city’s streets and people is a fantastic way to learn more. Getting firsthand experience of the city will give travelers a better idea of Mombasa. The Old Town is known for its historic Arabic influence and unique ornaments, fabrics and food. Grab some fresh fruit at a curio shop.

Truly experience the Indian and Arabic influences on cuisine in Mombasa at Tarboush Cafe. The menu features a mix of both cultures and has dishes such as skewered meat, kebabs, naan bread and biryani. It’s always busy here, but the wait is never too long — people eat their food quickly and continue on their way. Pl

After lunch, visit the Nguuni reserve. For a small fee of $15, anyone can book a table to bring their own food and drinks. The reserve has giraffes, ostriches and waterbucks. This is an essential place to visit because Kenya is known for its wild animals.

Enjoy a fantastic dinner at the Moorings. The restaurant is floating on Mtwapa Creek and renowned for its seafood. This is a great place for a romantic dinner and has good views for watching the sun go down over the water. The restaurant also serves amazing pizza and pasta for those who aren’t fond of seafood.
