Review: Murray’s Bar, Dublin, Ireland

First off, Murray’s Bar is enormous. The restaurant, located on O’Connell Street, is three stories tall and contains the eatery, a pub and music venue. It’s not exactly the classiest establishment in all of Dublin, but it’s obviously the place folks go to kick back and have a good time with friends.

The food here, mostly burgers and fries, is about average for bar food and certainly nothing to write home about. The atmosphere, however, is a blast. It’s crowded and loud on a weeknight, so don’t come expecting a nice place to relax. There’s much to do here from listening to live bands to watching your favorite game of football.

From what other patrons told me, it’s a fantastic breakfast spot with great hearty meals, but I wasn’t able to make it back in the morning to confirm this to be true. One thing they definitely do right is offer up a great selection of Irish beer. I sampled at least six different varieties and was pleased with them all.

I can’t say I’d ever rate this as a must-see place in Dublin, but if I were invited back on my next go-around I certainly wouldn’t say no. It is a great place to party, after all.
