Celebrate Autumn with a trip to the National Apple Harvest Festival located in Biglerville, Pennsylvania, just 10 miles away from historic Gettysburg. Spanning two weekends in October, Oct. 2–3 and 9–10, the event is held outside rain or shine.
Attractions include more than 300 arts-and-craft vendors scattered around the grounds. Pick up apple-related products like jams, pies, jellies, BBQ sauce and ciders, or find the perfect gift for someone as the holiday season approaches. Meander through a collection of antique farm equipment, gas engines and apple memorabilia.
Visitors can get interactive with an apple syrup-making demonstration, axe throwing, chainsaw carving demonstrations, and various make-and-take crafts. Come hungry as the food options are almost endless. Pork BBQ, open pit beef, candied apples, sausage, ham, funnel cake and classic fair foods are all available for purchase.
Entertainment around the grounds will keep you entertained for hours. Watch Native American Dancers, the Carroll County Cloggers, a puppet show, magicians and musicians of every genre perform. Jump on a bus tour to learn history by Orchard Tours about the Underground Railroad or the French and Indian War.
The rain-or-shine event has an admission price of $10 for ages 12 and up and a discounted $9 fee for those 60 and older. Kids under 12 are free.
