With cold and flu season in full swing, we’ll take all the precautions we can get. Whether traveling and needing an immunity boost or looking for a natural way to wake up and defog faster, there is a tea for that.

Ginger Tea

Ease nausea with fresh ginger tea. Grind fresh ginger and place in 4 cups of water with honey. Boil and stir until the mixture is well blended and sip slowly.

Lemon and Honey

One of the easiest teas and the most necessary for this time of year is lemon and honey tea. The lemon and honey mixture is an ideal remedy for a sore throat and is easy to make. Simply boil water and add as much lemon and honey as you like to taste. The lemon acts as a detox for your body and the honey helps coat your throat and ease soreness.

Chai Tea

Fight off the cold or flu with chai tea and boost your immune system. Chai tea can be found in a wide variety of stores and coffee shops, but if you’re feeling adventurous, make the homemade remedy.

Put a few cardamom seeds, three cloves, four peppercorns, one cinnamon stick and freshly ground ginger in a sauce pan with water to boil for a few minutes. Strain the mixture and add 2 cups of milk, 2 cups of water and 2 bags of black tea. Add honey for sweetness and stir.

Turmeric Tea

Wake up with turmeric tea. The natural anti-inflammatory helps you feel light and refreshed while promoting a healthy start for your digestive system. Find an organic, natural turmeric blend in stores or make your own with a teaspoon of ground turmeric, 4 cups of water and honey to taste. Simmer boiling water and turmeric for 10 minutes before straining into a cup. Add some honey, lemon or almond milk to taste. Almond milk has protein and is easy on your digestive system, while making the tea a bit creamer.
