If you’ve never worked with a travel advisor to book a trip before, you may soon be in the minority. A recent study from Travel Age West and Lush Experiences showed demand for travel advisors is up.
However, while demands increased, that doesn’t mean supply is necessarily able to meet demand. The study found travel advisors feel burnt out and stressed due to a mix of client inquiries and the current tumultuous travel landscape.
“The survey clearly indicates the pressures travel advisors are under due to circumstances beyond their control. These include higher demand, flight cancellations by airlines and the challenges of finding and training qualified employees,” said Brad Beaty, co-founder, Lush Experiences.
Nearly a third of surveyed advisors said their current workload is unsustainable. As a result, the majority say they’re setting new boundaries with traveling clients, which include things like not working with clients after business hours, charging extra fees for greater demands and not giving clients access to personal phone numbers.
All of the above noted though, travel advisors do still say they enjoy their work, with the majority saying they’re happy in their jobs and they’ve been able to find industry support.
