Mobile devices and apps are changing the world in which we live every day by introducing new technology that makes life just a little easier. App developers did just that with Mobile Passport, a new mobile app that lets you skip Customs and Border Protection in U.S. airports.
Once you have downloaded Mobile Passport, the app will prompt you for basic and travel information including the same information that appears on your passport information page (name, passport number, country of residence, etc.). Next, the app will ask you a few questions about your trip, such as your destination and your flight number. After you have entered all of your details, your plane has landed safely and you are within WiFi range, submit your entered data to Customs and Border Protection using the app. In a matter of seconds, you will receive a receipt with a barcode that expires within four hours.
At the Customs and Border Patrol area, go straight to the Mobile Passport, show your passport and scan your barcode.
Mobile Passport can be downloaded and used in Miami International Airport and Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, with plans to extend to other domestic airports in the near future.
