The nightlife scene in Vancouver is diverse; there is something for everyone to enjoy. Most of the nightlife and bars are within five different districts.
Granville Entertainment District on Granville Street is home to the typical nightclub scene. It is filled with several of the top 10 nightclubs in Vancouver, making it easy to club-hop all night. The weekends are packed, so be prepared for entrance lines.
Yaletown, on Hamilton Street and Mainland Street, is the most stylish Vancouver nightlife district. The nightlife here is ultra-trendy, symbolized by the celebrity hot spot OPUS Bar; Bar None, that is always packed; and Glowbal where the Canucks players frequent.
No district is as diverse as Gastown in Vancouver’s historic center. The always-evolving district’s nightlife ranges from casual, local pubs to sophisticated, urban-chic cocktail bars. The crowds are diverse as well; the cocktail bars and pubs attract all ages, and the dance clubs bring in a younger crowd.
Davie Street in downtown is the place to be for gay nightlife. It is packed with different clubs, bars and restaurants. Celebrities, Vancouver’s most popular gay club, has been the No. 1 weeknight destination in the city for 10-plus years.
For a casual and relaxed, music-focused atmosphere, Main Street is the place to be. Main Street has long been considered hipster-central, and the nightlife shows that appeal. The best places for live music would be The Main, Cottage Bistro and The Biltmore.
Vancouver’s nightlife districts offer something different for everyone.
