Cut Gluten with a Nima Sensor

For those attempting to cut gluten from their lives, dining out can be a tricky matter. Traveling, particularly in foreign countries, can only compound the problem, as you deal with foreign menus and language barriers. With the Nima Sensor, diners can be assured of their food’s true gluten content, no matter where they are.

The Nima Sensor comes in a cute, triangular shape, with the testing device in a capsule form. It’s quite small and can easily be thrown in your bag or even carried in a jacket pocket. All you do is take a small sample of the food, either liquid or solid, and place it in the capsule and screw on the cap, then insert the capsule into the sensor. It’s that simple. The sensor will tell you whether or not there is 20ppm or more of gluten in whatever food you’re testing in around two minutes.

Capsules are made for one-time usage and come with all of the testing chemicals pre-loaded. When you screw the capsule lid shut, it grinds the food down to test, and then the chemical mixture reacts with the food. The mixture is deposited onto a test strip, which is then analyzed. The results pop up on the device’s digital screen. Throw away the capsule and you’re done.

The Nima Sensor starter kit is $199 and will ship later this year. The kit comes with three capsules, a micro-USB cable and a carrying pouch. You can sign up for a capsule subscription and receive packs of 12 on a bi-weekly, monthly or bi-monthly basis.
