It takes about 10 seconds for a bike seat to get stolen, and that’s with a seat clamp. With a binder bolt, more like eight seconds, and don’t even ask about a quick release. Most seat clamps only secure the post, and there is a dire need among urban bicyclists for a solution to saddle theft.
Thankfully, that solution has been found in Payback, the bike seat security device created by Fortified Bicycle, an innovator in bicycle accessories, founded by MIT grads with a passion for building and riding. The Payback was developed when their friend Max had his seat stolen. After confronting the thief, which has been documented in their infamous video, they launched a Kickstarter campaign to develop a foolproof way to secure your seat. Fortified’s lightweight security clamp comes with a lifetime anti-theft guarantee, with the company promising to replace both the Payback and your seat if that guarantee is broken.

Payback only takes a few minutes to install and can fit any bike. Their device uses variations of proprietary bolt designs, making it almost impossible for someone to steal your seat, with the company claiming their products are stolen less than 1 percent of the time.
