ThePointsGuy.com released a comprehensive report of various aspects of air travel and how they affect how people fly. The ranking, which considers airfare, route networks, cabin comfort, frequent-flyer programs, lost baggage, customer satisfaction and more, showed Alaska Airlines to be the best in the United States of the major domestic airlines.
Alaska was at the top of the list while Spirit was the lowest ranking of the top 10 major carriers. The data came from sources like the Department of Transportation, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, Routehappy and more.
Alaska earned the No. 1 spot due to its frequent-flyer program, customer satisfaction and on-time arrival percentage. The airline did lose points for its limited route network, but that’s expected to expand as the company merges with Virgin America.
Ranking second was United Airlines, due to its comfortable cabins and high number of lounges. Third was Virgin America, though Alaska recently announced it would discontinue that brand post-merger.
The full top 10 ranking is: Alaska Airlines, United Airlines, Virgin America, JetBlue, American Airlines, Southwest, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, Frontier and Spirit. The full report is available here.
