Situated in the heart of Mont-Tremblant ski village, Laurent Louis is a cozy restaurant boasting French favorites. I dined at the quaint eatery on my first night in Mont-Tremblant. Most of Laurent Louis’ staff speaks French and I immediately felt as though I was transported to a charming café in France.
As we arrived ahead of our reservations, we started with cocktails. That evening Laurent Louis offered a special tasting of cocktails made with Calvados, an apple brandy. I enjoyed a Manhattan, topped off with Calvados, as I perused the menu. As we finished our cocktails, our knowledgeable waiter made wine and meal recommendations. The menu changes frequently to reflect the season and highlight local ingredients.
It was a chilly evening and the cozy setting felt perfect for a meal with hearty fall flavors. With several tempting options, I began with a scallop salad. The tender scallops were served alongside a small salad of field greens tossed in a light vinaigrette. For my main, I ordered veal with roasted vegetables and potatoes. The veal was rich and flavorful, though my favorite bite on the plate was the potatoes. A mix of sweet and white, the potatoes were roasted and formed a cake. The combination offered a unique flavor. I ended my meal with an indulgent apple tarte tatin. The flaky pastry and tart apples were accompanied by rich vanilla ice cream. Though I was full from dinner, I cleaned my plate. I was pleased with each dish I selected.
Laurent Louis is the perfect restaurant for an intimate night out in Mont-Tremblant.
