Once a year Scotland becomes the friendliest place on Earth. Each summer, usually around July, hundreds of Golden Retrievers flocks to the country for what has to be the furriest celebration ever.
The Golden Retriever Club of Scotland has thrown the event, dubbed Guisachan Gathering, each year since 2006 to celebrate man’s best friend and one of our favorite breeds. The Golden Retriever is often regarded as the kindest dog breed in the world, and these affable pups just marked 150 years of existence in 2018.
The annual event features a variety of events for Goldens and their human friends, from games to competition. Each year boasts a picnic with delicious Scottish food, along with field trial demonstrations and group training sessions to help keep things from getting out of hand. Of course, the biggest event is the Championship Show, where the goofy Goldens compete to see who is the most gorgeous of them all.
Whether you’re a fan of the breed, or simply want to see more than 200 of them all in one place, the event is guaranteed to be a good time. It takes place in the Scotland Highlands, the ancestral home of the breed, and offers incredible scenic views and adventures in addition to all the furry friends.
