The Facebook news feed is one of many ways to browse through friends’ travel photos, flight plans and experiences, and to pick up on tips regarding where to travel next and what to do from experts you know and trust: your friends. Now Facebook takes travel plans one step further by introducing a feature called “Lists.” On a medium rife with other peoples’ opinions, the social network created a way for users to share their best travel tips and hacks.
Officially launched in testing mode in mid-February, Facebook Lists let members numerically rank their choices on nearly any topic. Lists can be personalized with the option to select a number of different colored backgrounds as well as utilize emojis for a decorative touch.
Users can create their lists with travel in mind and can solicit advice and tips from friends. Just like status updates, friends of the poster can like or comment on the list, and they can also save another user’s list to access at a later time (which Facebook calls a “clone”).
Creating lists and saving them for future use can be a great way to share your curated advice with friends. The next time someone asks for the best sushi restaurants in SoHo, you can file through your lists and copy and paste your ranking as a comment on their post.
