Standup paddle boarding has become something of a phenomenon in recent years with outdoorsy, water-loving folks all over the world taking up the sport. Of course, if you find yourself traveling on a regular basis it’s never been convenient or even realistic to carry a paddleboard with you — until now, that is.
The SipaBoards Air is the first self-inflating standup paddleboard that can be taken with you just about anywhere you might go. It works by replacing the standard inflation valve on a normal SUP with a battery-powered, built-in compressor unit. You simply slide the battery into the unit and wave your hand, then the SUP begins to inflate right before your eyes. The compressor also connects to the SipaApp via Bluetooth technology to deliver you specs on the current pressure gauge and track your paddling sessions. The developers would eventually like to add an anti-theft alarm down the road.
There are currently four versions of the SipaBoards Air for every style of paddle boarder. The Neo is a great option for beginners while the Cruiser is designed for more experienced SUP enthusiasts who need more speed. The All-Around provides a sturdy foundation great for kids while the Balance allows you to practice your yoga routine out on the water.
The standard Neo version comes in at around $640 and is up for pre-order now on Indiegogo, while the other three are a tad more expensive at $940 each. Paddles cost extra.
