Staying Healthy During the Holidays

Nothing ruins the holidays like getting sick. With the stress and hectic pace of the season it’s easy for our immune systems to develop a crack, making room for colds and flus to wreck all of our carefully laid plans. Stay on top of your health with these simple techniques to ensure your holidays are memorable for all the right reasons.

Stay hydrated. When temperatures drop we may instinctively want to forego the water and grab a delicious pumpkin spice late to keep us warm, but staying hydrated is one of the best ways to keep your system from breaking down. Don’t forget about your water bottle.

Avoid the temptation to overeat. Easier said than done, right? While it’s okay to indulge, try not to overdo it as a drastic change in your eating habits can throw your system into chaos.

Make sure you get enough sleep. Nothing will weaken your immune system like a tired body and mind. We always seem to have so much more on our plates during the holidays but managing your time to make sure you get rest when you need it is key to staying healthy.

Don’t skip the flu shot. While it doesn’t offer any guarantees you won’t get sick, an annual flu shot should help lessen the severity and duration of any bugs you do catch.

Listen to your body. If you’re feeling tired and run down, make time to take care of yourself. If the feeling persists, see your doctor to make sure there is nothing more serious going on. With so many obligations it can be easy to ignore ourselves and push problems off until after the holidays, but you aren’t doing yourself, or anyone depending on you, any favors by getting sick.

What to Do During a Trip to Morro Bay, California

No, it’s not Monterey Bay. We’re talking Morro Bay, California, located about a 2.5-hour drive to the south, about halfway between San Jose and Los Angeles. A quieter destination, Morro Bay offers plenty for the outdoor adventurer to enjoy.

The Argosaronic Islands Are Calling

The Saronic or Argo Saronic Islands of Greece call travelers to explore its seven small islands and islets brimming with history, natural sites and more. With most easily accessible by boat, the islands’ proximity to ports of Athens make the Saronic Islands an ideal destination for those preferring shorter boat rides. In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips.
