Trends / Unique Itineraries & Tours

Beijing’s airport (PEK) is located about 20 miles from the city center, making this a great place to kill some time. It’s as easy as catching a cab and using your time wisely to discover Beijing. Always make sure to keep an eye on the clock and plan to arrive back at the airport with time to spare.

If you really want to make the trip memorable, go to the Great Wall of China. There are tour groups that specialize in layover tours, so it’s best to use one of these to get the most out of your trip. They’ll want to know your flight number, time of arrival and a list of sites you want to see. They do the grunt work and figure out the logistics of visiting these sites and how to get you back to the airport in time.

Another easy spot to visit is the Forbidden City in Beijing. This used to be the center of the Chinese government and has a lot of history. It gets its name because Chinese citizens used to be barred from entering, but, of course, now it’s allowed. There is also the Temple of Heaven and The Beijing Olympic Village worth visiting. Beijing has numerous sites that can be seen is a short span of time, so plan wisely.
