Traveling with your four-legged friends is more popular than ever. According to research by the American Pet Products Association, more than 70 percent of U.S. households in 2022 include a pet, with dogs and cats the most popular. The research also shows 52 percent of pet owners would only book a stay at accommodations that allow pets.
Family Destinations Guide recently conducted a study of the most pet-friendly cities in the United States. The team analyzed data from vacation rental website VRBO of 50 of the most-populated cities in the United States to see which cities offered the best pet-friendly accommodations.
Top 10 most pet-friendly cities in the United States:
- Houston, Texas
- Dallas, Texas
- San Diego, California
- Jacksonville, Florida
- Orlando, Florida
- San Antonio, Texas
- Phoenix, Arizona
- Los Angeles, California
- Chicago, Illinois
- New York City, New York
A spokesperson for Family Destinations Guide said, “Traveling with your pet also allows you to experience new destinations you may never have thought to visit. For instance, pet-friendly café, restaurants, and attractions could lead to amazing discoveries you might never have found if it weren’t for your pet. You can also enjoy a more outdoorsy holiday exploring mountains, parks, and beaches.”
