In Houston, BLCK Market, founded by J.O. Malone, started with seven vendors in Sawyer Yards’ hallway before opening its first brick-and-mortar location in September 2021 with space for more than 50 Black-owned businesses. On June 17, check out BLCK Market’s 4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration.

Located in Indianapolis’ Haughville neighborhood, Tiny Urban Escapes is a boutique resort of four semi-glass private luxury suites and private event space converted from upcycled shipping containers, founded by Indy native Robin Staten.
In Milwaukee, this store features more than 30 local brands from creatives of color, in a neighborhood that is predominantly Black. Pepperpot, newly opened, serves authentic Jamaican cuisine.

In Shelbyville, Tennessee, at Nearest Green Distillery, Humble Baron broke a Guinness World Record with its March 2023 opening as the world’s longest bar, at 518 feet long with 202 barstools. Owners Fawn and Keith Weaver broke other records as the first African-American-owned whiskey label and best-selling overall spirit in the U.S. by an African American.
A soulful upscale dining restaurant in Tupelo, Mississippi, Ethel Mae’s combines entertainment with Southern flavor and unique eats. Owner Demetra Sherer named the restaurant after her late mother.
