Ever had a long day of walking and think to yourself, wow, someone should really pay me to do this? Well, now someone will with a new app called Sweatcoin. The app converts your steps into currency called “sweatcoins” — in turn, literally paying you to get in shape.
The “sweatcoins” can then be used toward gift cards for Amazon or Paypal, credits for Sunbasket, workout programs and much more depending on the available offerings.
To earn steps you need to walk in outdoor spaces, so running on a treadmill won’t count. You also need to have the app running in the background, recording data at all times. You probably have to be cool with the company selling your walking data to companies before use as well, our guess as to why Sweatcoin offers money to literally just walk around.
It’s pretty hard to earn a substantial amount of coins, as 1,000 steps only equals 0.95 sweatcoins — but there are ways of earning more such as referrals and daily rewards.
The app is available in the iPhone App Store and for Google Devices on Google Play for free — all the more motivation to get up on your feet and move.
