The Northern Pines Restaurant in Flagstaff is a local favorite and arguably the best breakfast spot in the city. It’s beloved by locals and visitors alike, and its location right near the majority of hotels makes it an easy stop before exploring town.
The atmosphere at Northern Pines is laid-back and friendly, and has the appeal of an old-time diner but with a far more modern sophistication. One of the best things about the restaurant is most of the food and drinks are locally sourced. The steaks are cut right in Flagstaff and over a dozen of the beers on tap are made in Arizona. The menu offers many of the typical American staples for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The southwest meatloaf and eggs with green chili sauce was cooked perfectly and unlike any meatloaf I’d ever had. The chicken fried steak was also cooked well and had an option to spice it up a bit. The eggs were good, too, though nothing to write home about.
The staff here is absolutely fantastic. They were welcoming and friendly, and did not hesitate to offer suggestions when asked about things to see and do around Flagstaff. The prices were certainly reasonable, and actually cheaper than expected for an area that sees a lot of tourism. While I can’t speak to the dinner menu, I imagine it’s just as good as the breakfast options if they put in the same amount of attention and care. I’ll definitely be stopping in again on my next trip to the city.
