It doesn’t get much more Southern than The Olde Pink House in Savannah, Ga. I went here expecting an authentic Southern meal and was wowed by the setting and food.
The Olde Pink House is located in a genuine 18th-century mansion and is decked out in upscale décor that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. To call it elegant would be putting it mildly.
The waitstaff was professional and friendly and treated me well, even though I was dining alone. Sometimes you don’t get much attention unless you’re with a group, but not here.
Truth be told, the menu outside of the appetizers is a tad pricey, but the food is delicious. I tried the crispy-scored flounder with apricot shallot sauce. As someone who isn’t always the biggest fan of fish, I was blown away by the flavors. I actually ended up going back the next night just to have it again.
They also have some items on the menu that could be considered comfort food, like the pot pie, and other diners seemed to enjoy it very much.
I’d easily recommend this place to a friend and think it’s the perfect place for a date or special occasion. Most meals will run you upward of $50 per person, but it’s worth it.
