Moving can be stressful and time consuming, so plan ahead and make the ordeal as painless as possible. Stock up on boxes, bags, tape, labels and bubble wrap.
Use as many of your own plastic bags, tote bags and storage boxes as possible. This will ultimately save money on packing materials, waste and time when unpacking.
Begin packing infrequently used items first and save the everyday items, objects, and clothing for last. This will make unpacking simpler and less chaotic.
Be sure to label everything clearly. Taking the time to list the contents of each box or bag will make unpacking a breeze and will assist in the loading process as well.
Moving can be a great time for a quick, impromptu spring cleaning. This may be the only opportunity for some time, and the only time when you will see each individual item you own.
Go through everything thoroughly and thoughtfully, donating items you don’t need, want or use. In the long run this will make moving much lighter and easier, even if it is only a few items. Consigning gently worn or used items can bring in some last-minute cash while lightening the moving load.
