Tofino, a small district on Vancouver Island off Canada’s West Coast, has become a well-known and well-loved festival destination for its intimate settings and charming host villages. Here are a few of the most notable festivals throughout the year.

 

 

Tofino Food and Wine Festival

The 15th annual Tofino Food and Wine Festival will take place June 2–4, celebrating the best in regional food and wine. The festival includes several events such as Grazing in the Gardens, showcasing local culinary talent, and British Columbia wines, craft ciders and beers in the Tofino Botanical Gardens.

 

 

Art Splash Annual Spring Art Show

This 16-day art show features the work of talented local artists, allowing visitors to get a feel for the Tofino culture. Visitors can view and purchase pieces at the show, which takes place at the Black Rock Oceanfront Resort in Ucluelet.

 

 

Pacific Rim Whale Festival

Now in its 31st year, the Pacific Rim Whale Festival honors the annual migration of more than 20,000 Gray Whales past the shores of Tofino. The festival takes places March 11–26.

 

 

Tofino Shorebird Festival

Nature lovers come from all over the world to experience Tofino’s annual Shorebird Festival, which celebrates the region’s unique species, including Sandpipers, Plovers and Whimbrels, as they make their journey from South and Central America to their Arctic breeding grounds. The festival, which takes places in late April through May, sees thousands of visitors each year.

FEAST Tofino

FEAST takes place May 6–22, celebrating Tofino’s sustainable boat-to-table culinary traditions. This two-week festival highlights local seafood offerings including salmon, crab, prawns and shellfish and features guest chefs from around the world.
