One of the biggest challenges when exploring a new city is figuring out the public transit system. Schedules, frequency of stops, unexpected delays — it can be such a headache! But thanks to Transit App, it doesn’t have to be hard to navigate local transit systems.
Transit is an Android and Apple app that tracks all nearby public transit options. It shows buses, trains, bike share options and even allows you to order Uber in some cities. You can check out maps to verify routes, watch real time updates of estimated arrival and plan a route. Since the app shows options closest to you, you can also be sure you won’t end up walking for miles before hitting a train or bus stop. You won’t be caught off guard by a train line not running or a bus route being closed down temporarily.
Transit is currently available for 89 metropolitan areas, including a long list of U.S. cities. It is also available in cities across Europe and Kenya, with more cities being added. The site offers a wish list to allow users to vote for cities they want to see included or add one not already on the list. As long as you can access GPS, you can use the app in any of its member cities.
