Travel With A Sharpening Stone

I always travel with knives as I love to cook and impress as I travel and often travel with the idea I’ll likely be taking a cooking class or two when on the road. But for many this is impractical. First, you might not have your own knives when you set out on your journey or don’t have a travel bag for them.

Additionally, if you’re not checking a bag, this is simply not an option, as they are not going to let you carry on a 10-inch chef’s knife sharper than the devil’s tongue itself. What’s more is the fact it can even be a hassle to travel with knives in a checked bag in this day and age of airport security.

But for those who do enjoy cooking in hostels either for fun, to save money or to truly impress that special someone, a sharp knife is key and the misuse of hostel knives almost guarantees they will be duller than hell as people use them each night.

Food is not pretty or impressive with a dull knife. Additionally, dull knives are dangerous as you put your back into it to cut something tough. They will still be sharp enough to seriously hurt you, but will make that steak you simply wanted to trim look a mess.
