Under $100 / North America

Chicago offers a variety of attractions, no matter which season you visit. Summer, however, provides visitors with a variety of outdoor fun that’s much more enjoyable in warm weather.

Pick up a simple breakfast at Over Easy. The Sassy Eggs ($12) are a citywide favorite and include chorizo, jalapeno, potatoes, cheddar cheese, ancho and guacamole.

You’ll want to head to Navy Pier in the morning for smaller crowds, or in the evening for the nightlife options. The great views of both the city and Lake Michigan can make for the perfect travel pic. If you’re feeling a bit warm, grab an ice cream from one of the many vendors. Nearby beaches offer smooth waters with views of skyscrapers, for no admittance fee.

Enjoy the walk from Navy Pier to Millennium Park. It may be a long trek, but if the weather is right, it can be a great one with views of both the Chicago River and Lake Michigan. Enjoy views of Cloud Gate and a rotating list of festivals and concerts.

Go underneath Magnificent Mile to escape the sun and discover the classic Billy Goat Tavern. The original greasy burger spot is preferred over the tourist-geared Navy Pier location. Burgers start at $3.35 for the original Cheezborger.

Head to Lincoln Park Zoo for a free and fun time. The Chicago institution is open every day and always free, so you can easily fit it into your travel itinerary. With more than 1,000 resident animals, it’s a fun spot for both adults and kids.
