A good place to kick off the day with a strong coffee and a hearty breakfast is Artesano with a upstairs seating offering one of the best views in town and friendly staff. This place is as good as it gets when it comes to refreshing yourself after a long shuttle ride from the day before.

Whether you plan to brush up on your Spanish in the afternoon or go for a hike on one of the many trails in the area, Quetzal Trekkers will point you in the right direction. You can enjoy some of the best sushi in Quetzaltenango at Zakennayo Sushi or go for a curry at Sabor de la India to reward yourself for your exertions. This restaurant has a reputation well warranted and outside of Mumbai or Birmingham, it serves up some of the most authentic Indian dishes you could hope to enjoy. The portions are generous.

St Mark’s Episcopal church is well worth the visit if you would like to enjoy some calm before letting loose at Trova or the PlayRoom, but be warned there are a few good pool players in there most nights. A couple of rounds won’t break the bank and daily specials will allow you to stay well within your daily budget.

With $100 to spend in a day, you will have no problem enjoying Xela.
