Head to the live music capital of the world: Austin, Texas. With vibrant entertainment and culture, inspiring cuisine and stunning outdoor settings, Austin lets visitors create their own soundtrack. Home to more than 250 music venues and a vibrant arts scene, you’ll never be bored in the Lone Star State.

Start off your day at Paperboy. The dedicated breakfast trailer’s menu includes sandwiches, hash and French toast. Order the bacon, egg and cheese on brioche — you won’t regret it. Paperboy even offers newspapers for guests to read while dining. The seasonal, curated menu, with produce and dairy from local farms, allows guests to dine on the cozy patio. Prices range $2–9.

Austin is known for much more than its music. It’s home to a wonderful ballet, world-class museums, one-of-a-kind shopping and beautiful outdoor spaces. Spend the morning walking or running along Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail. Located in the heart of the city, this 10-mile, off-road trail is the city’s crown jewel. You’ll find city officials and celebrities jogging alongside locals admiring the lush scenery and gorgeous skyline views.

After working up a sweat, cool down while taking in the lay of the land with The Real Austin Tour. This bucket list tour gives you a city overview in just two hours. You’ll explore major landmarks, lesser-known gems, real neighborhoods and, of course, food trucks. The $35 per person tour covers everywhere from Congress Avenue, the Texas State Capitol, Governor’s Mansion, Whole Foods Headquarters and much more. You’ll learn about the city’s art, music, history, culture, people, Keep Austin Weird and much more.

Spend the afternoon touring Independence Brewing Co. The craft brewery has an industrial tasting room for new and classic beers, along with live music. Sip on year-round beers like Stash IPA, an Indian pale ale or the seasonal Cucumber Redbud, a Berliner Weisse. The tap room is open Thursday and Friday, 4–10 p.m., Saturdays 1–10 p.m. and Sundays 2–8 p.m.

For dinner, check out Velvet Taco serving up its funky taco varieties with late-night hours. Round out a meal with sides, margaritas and velvet cake or get the Backdoor Chicken to go. Simply knock on the back door and ask for the $20 special and get a whole, slow-roasted, rotisserie chicken, tortillas and two sides of elote-style corn with cream, homemade sauce and fresh pico de gallo. Tacos range f$3.50–6.25.

No visit to Austin is complete without checking out the music scene and you don’t have to travel far. Live music is everywhere in Austin, from grocery stores to city council meetings. Musicians play outdoors at the Blues on the Green series and at festivals like Austin City Limits and South by Southwest. Then, there’s Urban Music Festival, Sound on Sound Festival and many more worth checking out. Find out who’s playing when you’re in town.
