Take a lesser-traveled California road trip when you explore Tomales Bay, a short drive from San Francisco.
With Lodge at Marconi, situated on 60-plus acres in Marconi State Historic Park, as your homebase, make the trek around the bay to experience its best.
So, what should you do?

Strap on your hiking boots and head to Tomales Bay Trail to take an easy, nearly 3-mile, round-trip hike through cattle-grazing pasture land, where you’ll see views of the bay — actually formed by a San Andreas Fault rift. For something a little more difficult, try Bolinas Ridge Trail; it offers hikes up to 22 miles, but you can adjust your hike to meet any time restraints.
Then, drive to the bay’s western side to visit the historic, 19th-century Point Reyes Lighthouse, as well as picturesque Cypress Tree Tunnel.
When you’re hungry, and depending on what side of the bay you’re on, try The Marshall Store for an array of oyster options, clam chowder, chorizo fish stew and sandwiches; Tony’s for waterside dining, live music and plenty of seafood; or The Farmer’s Wife for organic sandwiches and gourmet cheese.
